Terms of service

The deal between you and us while halfface is being built.

Effective 22 August 2026

These terms cover your use of halfface. Using it means you accept them. They are short on purpose, and they are meant to be read.

Who this is between

halfface is operated by Saad Chaudhry as an individual. A legal entity has not yet been established; these pages will be updated with notice when one is. In these terms, "we" means the operator and "you" means you. How we handle your data is a separate page: the privacy policy, which is part of this agreement.

halfface is early

halfface is in early access. It is being built while you use it, which means:

  • It is provided as is, with no warranty of any kind.
  • Features can change, move, or disappear.
  • It can go down, lose track of something, or get an answer wrong.
  • Nothing here promises that it will be available, or that what it produces will be correct.

So: do not make halfface the only home for something you cannot afford to lose, and read anything important before you rely on it. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for what you lose by relying on an unfinished service. Where the law does not allow us to exclude something, we do not try to.

Your account

  • You need to be at least 18 and able to enter into a contract where you live.
  • One account per person. Do not share it, and do not sign in as someone else.
  • Sign-in runs through your provider, so keep that account secure. It is the key to this one.
  • What happens under your account is your responsibility.

What you may not do

Do not use halfface to:

  • Break the law, or move unlawful content through it.
  • Harass, deceive, or otherwise abuse other people using it.
  • Reach data that is not yours, or work around the controls that decide who may ask you for what.
  • Break, overload, probe, or scrape the service.
  • Impersonate anyone, including us.

If you do any of this we can suspend or close your account, and if it is serious we will do it without warning.

Your content stays yours

Whatever you connect, write, or send through halfface remains yours. We do not claim ownership of any of it.

To run the service we need one narrow permission from you: to store your content, process it, and show or send it where you have asked us to. That permission exists only to operate halfface for you. It is not exclusive, we cannot use it for anything else, and it ends when you delete the content or your account. Two things survive: copies already delivered to someone else, and ordinary backups until they age out.

The service itself, the name, and the design are ours. Using halfface does not give you rights to them.

Ending it

You can stop at any time. Delete your account from your account page and the data on your side goes with it. The privacy policy sets out exactly what that covers.

We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. We can also stop running the service: if we do, we will give you notice and a way to get your data out first.

An answer you already sent stays with the person who received it. Closing your account does not undo what has already been shared.

Changes to these terms

These will change as the service does. If a change matters to you, we will tell you before it takes effect and update the date at the top. If you do not agree with a change, stop using halfface and delete your account.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the Netherlands, and any dispute goes to the courts there. If you are a consumer, this does not take away the protections you have where you live.
